What Christian Are
1 Peter 2:9
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
Intro: Many Christian today don't really know who they are in Christ, they live in a defeated live and sometime are ashamed let other know that they believe in Jesus Christ. That should not be, let look at the bible and see what it says about us.
Read the Bible Verse
The bible several wonderful things about us here. It says we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, and that we're to declare praises of him which is God.
I. We are a chosen people.
"For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love" Eph 1:4
In the Old Testament time, Israel was the chosen race to be God's people, today we Christian are the chosen people of God. By God grace we have been chosen by God to be His. Do you realize how wonderful that is, being chosen by the king of kings and Lord of lords. Like Cinderella story the prince chose her over all the other girls. The only difference is that she was the most beautiful girl in the ballroom but we are not. God chose us by His grace. The bible says that while we were yet sinner, He died for us. We were not lovely or worthy but He chose to die for us. That should mean something to us, don't you think?
II. We are royal priesthood. Ex: 19:6
"You will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites." Ex 19:6
In the Old Testament time, the Jew had a high priest to make sacrifices for them and the priest has to live a high moral or holy lives or they will be dead when they enter the holy of holy temple.
As the high priest of the OT, we are to
Reflect the holiness of God and that of high priest
Offer spiritual sacrifices (Rom 12:1)
Intercede for others before God
Represent God before men.
