The Greatest Gift of All

The Greatest Gift of All

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16. KJV

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 NIV

I. The Love and Gift of God

a.    God so love the world – for some people's love are limited to their family and friends only.  But God's love is unlimited and unconditional.  The Jew thought that since they are the chosen race that God only loves them, but as stated by Jesus to Nicodemus that God so love the world.  He does not care if you are black or white, short or tall, smart or dumb, big or small, good looking or not, you are all belong to the human race and you are part of the world that He so love.  A famous pastor Dr. R.A. Torey said that as he had come to know more and more of the evil in the world such as cruelty, greed, falsehood and selfishness in the world, he sometime wonder why God did not destroy them like He did to Sodom and Gomorrah of the old.  "Why does He not do it? I will tell you why. God loves the world. In spite of all its cruelty, in spite of all its greed, in
spite of all its selfishness, in spite of all its lust, in spite of all
its vileness in thought and word and deed, God loves the
world. Is it not wonderful, is it not amazing, that a Holy God
should love a sinful world like this? But He does!
There is not a man whom God does not love. There is not
a woman whom God does not love. There is not a thief whom
God does not love. There is not a woman who has forgotten
her modesty and her true womanhood that God does not love.
There is not an adulterer whom God does not love, not a sin-
ner, not an outcast, not a criminal of any kind whom God does
not love. "God so loved the world."  God does not just love but so love the world that

b.    He gave his one and only Son – When you love someone very much     you want to give the best give to them don't you? And God so love us     that He gave     his one and only Son to us.  Jesus is the most valuable     gift that anyone can gift to someone else.  And God gave Him to us     "This is real love. It     is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and     sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins."  1 John 4:10 Jesus is not     only a     gift to us from the Father but He also was willingly came to save     us.  Jesus was God's

b. Sacrificial love and gift to us – If you don't love someone you can not give sacrificially.  Because God so loved us that He gave sacrificially so that we might live.  Have you ever given sacrificially to someone that you love.  Illustration "Caleb Holt of Fireproof movie" was able to give 25 thousands? to help his mother in-law's medical bill because he love his wife.  At first he wasn't able to because he had saved the money to buy a boat which he really want.

II. The Reason for the Gift – Why did Jesus have to come and die?

a.    Because the world that God loves is perishing  - the bible tells us that             there is no one righteous. For all have sinned and fall short of the                 glory of God.  Rom 3:23 and the wages of sin is death …. Rom 6:23.              That means the world that God loved would perished, eternally                 separated from God.  The world or sinner can not save himself.                  He is like a prisoner in a death row waiting for execution.  The only             possible way out is by mercy of governor or president of the United             State to pardon him.  The bible tells us that the world is lost. "They are             darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God             because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their             hearts." Eph 4:18.  Since the world or sinner can not save himself and             because God so loved the fallen world or sinful people that God the             Father, Son and Holy Spirit work together to save the world through             Jesus Christ from perishing.  Jesus not only willing to save but also             able to save the world from their sin and the control of Satan.                  There     are many out there that claims to be able to help you but in the         end they fail.  Illustration …. Home Rescue Attorney, Organization             that take the homeowner's money but at the end can not help.

Now we know that God loves us and He gave His one and only Son             Jesus Christ to save us, what should we do with His Son?

III. The world's response should be

a.    Need to believe – whoever believes in Him.  Each individual must             believe, your parent's belief can not save you, you must sincerely             believe with your own heart "that if you confess with your mouth the         Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from             the dead, you will be saved."  Roman 10:9.  We can not be save             without faith, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and         this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-" Eph 2:8, salvation has     always been and is by grace through faith. "And without faith it is     impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe     that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Heb 11:6

a. Need to receive- "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-" Jn 1:12,
To believe is to receive. Who among you here knowing             that you are dying and someone can save you if you just accept his help         would refuse it. Only a fool or unbeliever would refuse it.  When we     believe and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we become     children of God.  And since God is eternal and when we become children     of God we will have.

c.    Have eternal life with God– Whoever believes and receives Him will     have eternal life, will not perish but have eternal life with God in heaven     where there is no war, sickness, sadness of any kind.  It is a holy city, a     place of joy, a     place of eternal rest and a place without confusion.

For God so loved the world, that is you and me, that he gave the greatest gift of all that is His Son Jesus Christ through whom we can be save and have eternal life.  What is your decision today. The question I want to ask you is have you receive this gift, if not will you receive Him and have eternal life.
